Laguarda.Low’s Master Plan for "GATEWAY NARITA" was revealed during a press conference on May 9 in Tokyo. The project is a transformative development in Narita City. At its core is the Digital Dome, an immersive arena with a seating capacity of over 5,000 and a 6,000 square meter screen area. The Dome as proposed will be a global entertainment and technology hub.
The overall development spans 380,000 square meters and includes an Innovation Center for Food Tech Companies, an R&D Complex, a Retail Center, a Luxury Hotel, an Automated Hotel with a panoramic LED screen, and a Cold Storage Warehouse Complex.
Mr. Ejima, of Kyosei Bank, expressed his excitement over the project, stating, "We aim to create a global development that will become a new gateway to Japan. We hope the Digital Dome will become a new landmark."
Ken Shigematsu, Principal of Laguarda.Low Architects, highlighted the project's impact, stating, "Combining Japan's essentials, food and technology, will bring vitality. Gateway Narita may become an incubator that supports Japan's future innovations and economy."
Regarding sustainability, the site will collect and filter rainwater for reuse, reducing the burden on sewage systems and cutting down on electricity and greenhouse gas emissions.
A large underground bus terminal will enhance connectivity with Narita Airport, surrounding stations, and downtown Tokyo. Earthwork is set for completion by 2025, with Phase I to open by 2027. This development promises to redefine Narita City and Japan's technological and entertainment landscape.
