Sited near the city center, the ambitious new Gorkogo Park project is noteable for its size and scale, and its modern form. It is also the first large mixed-use development in Kiev. While solidly urban, the project has a park-like character via its internal and external spaces. The central market uses natural light to create a sense of openness, while water features, landscaped elements for children\u2019s play, and interior planting create a winter garden for the Kiev shopper. Through three retail levels, visitors can access a spa, bowling center, fitness club, and restaurants. A series of roof gardens complement the retail floors, culminating in a central garden, which dramatically floats above the heart of the project. Each apartment adds to the project\u2019s park-like theme through a balcony and a solarium. With striated patterns and terraces that puncture the solid mass, the mall evokes the metamorphic rock formations of the nearby Baiyun Mountain. COFCO Plaza is a 1.6 million sf mixed-use, transit-oriented development. Our scope for the project included the master plan and architectural design for the development sited along Beiling Park, Shenyang\u2019s largest park. The program included a 19-story office tower, six 7-story office towers, two 24-story residential towers and two levels of underground parking. The design positions the residential towers to the north end and the 19-story office tower at the south edge. Aiming to capture an entire urban lifestyle, the project features residences alongside a vibrant commercial, entertainment, and dining destination. The architecture responds to a gradual slope from one end of the site to the other through a continuous arching form that wraps the four masses and rises and falls with the elevation.
