The building\u2019s skin has a crystalline, faceted quality, using an industrial language expressed with jewel-like attention to detail. The metal panels are selected in a variety of shades and hues within a single color tone. A stepped roofline, pierced by roof lights, unifies the upper and lower forms, linking the office block to the retail podium. The roofline play complements the contemporary new museum across the avenue, giving this intersection in Novi Zagreb a fresh modern character. The retail\/entertainment zone flanks the north and west street facades, while a cascading parking structure with roof gardens borders the south and east facades. A three-story atrium containing shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues fills the space with natural light through its curvilinear roof, creating a play of patterns on the floor\u2019s variegated stonework. Through the planar boundaries of canopies and vertical fins used to emphasize the entries, the \u00a0scale of the towers is mitigated, while further enhancing the experience at the street level. A large cluster of rainforest Buritisal palm trees shade the stunning outdoor food court. A grouping of 50-meter tall Castanheira trees provides a spectacular entrance for visitors. The dramatic meeting of the nearby Rio Negro and the Amazon River inspired the design of Manaus Mall. The two rivers come together but do not mix, creating a multicolored swirl for several kilometers. The Manaus Mall reflects this junction of two powerful rivers through the roof and interior design. Two slightly different colors, which come close to mixing, separate two sides of the interior. Similar to bird watching and forest lookout stations, outdoor dining terraces are immersed in the Amazonian environment. Design keys from the vernacular plantation houses, known as fazendas, define the project, from the facades\u2019 proportions to the articulation of the interior bulkheads of the tenant spaces. At the heart of the development is a large public garden that takes advantage of the region\u2019s temperate climate, allowing the dining court to be enjoyed year-round. As important as the regionalism in the design, the need for expansion was also a major factor of the Campo Grande project. The overall intent of the structure from the very beginning of the design process focused around the need for the future addition of two levels, one below grade, and one at the third story. The shopping loop is interrupted by the main plaza and smaller squares in front of the fashion anchor, the supermarket, and health club. Three levels of retail and entertainment, including areas to eat and relax, a \u201cKid\u2019s City\u201d entertainment area, and a department store, are covered by an expansive canopy.
