The Nanjing Master Plan is a dynamic new urban center where history and nature meet. John Low, AIA, co-founder and principal of Laguarda.Low shares the story behind the new waterfront park stretching nearly two kilometers in Nanjing.

Inspired by the regions’ characteristic water villages, the master plan has an organic relationship with waterways where the familiar scale of the past blends with the architecture of today. Eco-friendly features include water catchment and redistribution, solar energy and green roofs, passive shading devices and breeze corridors.
