BROU Montevideo Wins 2010 Dallas AIA Best-In-Show Award

Laguarda.Low’s conceptual design for an addition to the iconic Bank of the Republic in downtown Montevideo, Uruguay, was honored with the prize of Best-in-Show at the 2010 AIA Dallas awards. The project, which was recently featured in an exhibition of work by Uruguayan architects and in Galeria de Busqueda magazine, blends the geometry of the existing bank with a conceptual interpretation of the surrounding historic shipyard. The result is an innovative and thoroughly modern building that is integrated seamlessly its cultural surroundings and forms a unique, iconic and memorable icon defining a new downtown and direction for Montevideo.
